Stanford Course

In the Kaupeka hub we have been taking a Stanford course, it is about math and how math improves the brain and that struggling is good for your brain because it means your brain is growing by thinking.

in the Course we watched videos about a math problem or just talking about math and asking people if they like math or not, then when we were done we had to answer a question to see if we were listening to the video.

PBL Business Cards and Poster

This week for our PBL we had to make business cards and posters, there were more like flyers or magnets, but it was optional, we had to design them with our partner this is what mine looked like

Science

In the Kaupeka Hub we did science experiments, in my group we made slime and tested out different things we could add into the slime, many students did different things like there was lava lamps, bouncy eggs, and a lot more creative ideas, here is all the data.

PBL Invitation

This week we had to design a invitation for our relatives to come over and see our PBL, this terms  PBL driving question is What will the future ask of us? or something similar to that, for example, How can we help current endangered animals? That's what I'm doing, some of the students have come up with ideas like building models on Minecraft, or using clay, for mine I have created a Minecraft world with artificial habitats for the endangered animals, So the Parents or Siblings or grandparents and more, will come to see what all the students have done, Anyway, here's what my in invitation looks like.

The Scientific Method

This Term in our Hub we went around in rotations learning about the different scientific methods, there was Matter, The Water cycle, Structures, and Heart rate, my favourite was Matter, Matter was about global warming and the ice melting, we filled up glasses with water and put one small cube of ice into the water and see how long it took to melt, and it didn't take that long, anyways here's what my scientific method looked like.

Volunteering

All of the students in the kaupeka hub had to fill out a form that was sent to us by our teachers, we had put down what we wanted to volunteer for, there was Curtain bank, 0800 Hungry, and graffiti removal, I was put into Curtain bank, curtain bank is where we measured curtains and folded them nicely and placed them into bags for the people who don't have curtains that can't afford them and have cold houses, there are curtain bins around Christchurch where people put their unwanted curtains in for people who need them more.

we were put into groups of three but since there were not enough people there were two groups of three and two groups of two, I was in a pair with my friend Katrina, I had a fun time Measuring and folding the curtains. I recommend volunteering.
