How can we Fight against Discrimination

Today at school we have learnt about Discrimination and what it feels like to be Discriminated.

Ageism - Ageism is when you get Discriminated of your age, like for example all year 8's can go out to lunch but all the year 7's have to stay in and do extra work.

Racism - Racism is where someone is Discriminated of their colour or Race, for example someone doesn't let a coloured person on the bus because they are different and they can't change that

Sexism - Sexism is when someone is discriminated of their gender like for example, a girl could be wanting to play Rugby but some of the boys would tell her you can't play because your a girl.

Able-ism - Able-ism is where someone is bullied or people make fun of someone for having a disability, example, someone is talking about a person who has a disability or they don't let this person with the disability play with them or they don't let them play this sport because they think they can't do it because they don't seem the same as us.

Religion - Religion discrimination is where someone is bullied because of what they believe in or people would say to them your not allowed to do this because you believe in God or other religions.

Stereotypes - A Stereotype is someone who looks at a person and thinks they can't play this sport because they look like that or for example oh shes a girl she can't run faster than me or oh that coloured person can't be in my store because it will make me look bad.

What is Discrimination? - Discrimination is when someone would come up to you and say something like your a girl you can't be here or your sitting on a plane next to a coloured guy and you want to move seats, so really discrimination is what I have explained above.

What does it mean to Stand up? - to stand up means that you see someone getting discriminated and you go up to them and stand up for the person who is getting discriminated on something they CAN'T change, just a small act like that will make them feel happy.

What does a Up-Stander do? - a Up-stander will stand up for people being discriminated and try to stop discrimination.

What are the different types of discrimination? - Racism, Sexism, Religion, Able-ism

Have you been Discriminated Against Before?? and if you have tell me what of, Sexism, Racism, Religion, or Able-ism.
