Biography

Hi, So Recently in the Kaupeka Hub we have been making Biography's, My one is based on Ellen DeGeneres, now I will share some of what I have written

  • American comedian and television host known for her quirky observational humour. DeGeneres briefly attended the University of New Orleans, where she majored in communications.

  • Ellen DeGeneres: World Leader. She was inspired by her brother (the “comedian” of the family) at a public speaking event. She found herself frightened by the crowd, so she used humour to get through the experience.

that's not all of what information I have collected but it's some, if you made a biography who would you base it on?

Kindness T-Shirt

Hello, Today I will be sharing to you about this Kindness T-shirt design and why what to do with them, so students have been given a T-shirt template to design their kindness T-shirts on for example here's mine (Very Basic)

One of the students designs will win and people can win these piece's of paper to write on to enter to win your T-shirt (The Teachers will Make the design onto an actual shirt) Now to win this T-shirt there will be a Raffle with all the bits of paper in, The Peer mediators will be handing out these bits of paper to students they notice are standing out from others by being kind to one another, I guess that's all you need to know about this. Bye now

Swimming Sports!

Swimming Sports!

Hello Welcome back, Today I will be going on about Swimming sports, so recently at school we did swimming sports we all got to enter as many races as we wanted but we had to enter at least two but I only entered two, as we just sit there waiting for all the races to end till it gets to the year 7 girls freestyle soon enough they call out the names in groups for what girls I am going against they say my name my heart starts racing the rush us over on stand-by, next they tell us to stand by the pool they blow a whistle to tell us to get in next the final whistle, Go! we all push off the wall racing for the end, my legs start to get tired but I keep going, Finally at the end trying to catch my breath I was pretty happy with what place I came (2nd) So I sat back down and waited for my Backstroke race, soon enough we were ready same thing as last time my heart was racing and the first whistle goes off, we jump in the pool and the second whistle goes off, we all charge off the wall and race to the end of the pool, once we all made it to the end I found out that I had come second again! I was Pretty happy with that, Sooner or later all the races had finished and we all took the bus back to school.

Market Day reflection

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was;
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product
First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper,
string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
; make a table that was able to balance M&Ms for the team.
We were much better at the second challenge because
the table was stronger than the chair and the M&M's were lighter than the multi-block figure

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments
and to write a technology report using the design process of ask,
imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?
Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this, We made mini tea bag rockets (and tinfoil ones)
it was quite a challenge to make all the rockets just in a few days
(We started making them like a week after research

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was making the rockets and boxing them,
and I loved going around to see what other amazing things people made

Next time I would try make something more complicated
because I think the experience of making all this stuff is really fun,
it was a lot of stress on the last day we had to make as much rockets
as we could but we got there, in the middle of the selling spree, we sold
out and there was supposed to be a orange gem in one of the boxes,
but I think people were just buying them for the prize you get if
you got the orange gem in your box
